OSB

OSB

OSB or Oriented Strand Board is formed with wood chips that are bonded together with a binder by the application of heat and pressure. The chips of the outer layers are aligned and arranged parallel to the length of the board, while that of the inner layer (s) can be oriented randomly or aligned perpendicularly to the direction of the chips of the outer layers.

Depending on the materials used, the characteristics of the OSB boards may be different. Commonly they are classified in 4 groups, being the OSB-3 the one of greater use for the Construction of Houses (Interior uses protected in Roofing, Walls and Floors):

OSB-1: Interior use, basically furniture.
OSB-2: Load applications in dry environments.
OSB-3: Loading applications in relatively humid environments.
OSB-4: High load resistance in relatively humid environments.
